One of the best features of the Summer Songwriting seminar at Berklee is the opportunity for our students to work with visiting artists. This year is particularly meaningful to me, because the visiting artist is one of Boston’s most respected songwriters, Dennis Brennan. He is known for his longstanding residency at the Lizard Lounge. You know it is good because you can always find some of the best musicians in Boston in his band and in the audience (Peter Wolf shows up unannounced and sings with him at times). I have had the pleasure and the honor of opening for Dennis and singing with him a number of times. And today, I get to be the moderator at his clinic, and help him share is incredibly deep knowledge of songwriting with our students! Can’t wait for it.
Here are a couple of songs I sang with him at the Camberville Benefit for Boston Strong at Johnny D’s.
